who we are & why you should choose us

The Kuwait Dyslexia Association (KDA) was established in 1999. Many of the dyslexic people across Kuwait and the region, whether adults or children, are unable to fulfill their potential as a large percentage of the population still do not underst and what dyslexia is, its difficulties and do not know how best to support them. Dyslexia is not an obvious difficulty; it is hidden. As a result, dyslexic people have to overcome numerous barriers to make a full contribution to society.

The aim of the KDA is to deal with dyslexia in all its aspects. We provide the assessment and diagnosis throughnew technological programs in English and Arabic, andactively promotes effective teaching approaches and related educational intervention strate gies for people with dyslexia. We support and encourage interdisciplinary research. We facilitate the exploration of the causes and early identification of dyslexia and are committed to the responsible and wide dissemination of research based knowledge.
We believe that all individuals have the right to achieve their potential, and that individual learning abilities can be strengthened and that social, educational and cultural barriers to language acquisition and use must be removed.

KDA pursue and provide the most comprehensive range of information and service referrals that address the full scope of language-based learning disabilities. In that effort, we focus our resources in the areas of:

Increase awareness of dyslexia in the community

Advocacy, both to school systems and local governmental agencies

Dissemination of information and referral services

Referral to local specialists

Outreach to anyone dealing with dyslexia

Promotion of scientific educational research

Advancement of both awareness of and adherence to the Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.
