The Ithraa’ satellite channel hosted Mr. Mohammed Youssef Al-Qatami, Vice Chairman of the KDA and Editor-in-Chief of the Dyslexia Magazine, for the “Ithraa’ on Air” program, which was presented on Monday 20 November 2017; to talk about learning difficulties in general and dyslexia in particular, the discussion was oriented about the definition of dyslexia, its causes, symptoms, manifestations, methods of diagnosis, and means of treatment.
Mr. Al-Qatami discussed the cases of dyslexia in Kuwait, as documented in the survey conducted on a group of Kuwaiti schools, and the efforts of the Association in raising awareness of dyslexia and providing diagnosis and treatment services for dyslexics.
He explained that the work of the association began more than 20 years ago and went through four stages: to identify the problem of dyslexia, to find diagnostic and treatment tools in order to deal with the problem, and then to improve the performance. The fourth phase, is being worked on, and has the aim to transfer the Kuwaiti experience to the Arab world.
In addition, he discussed the most important programs of the association, its diagnostic and remediation tools, the Dyslexia application on modern devices, the vision of Dyslexia-friendly schools, and the KDA aspirations in developing diagnostic and treatment tools, moving them from psychological tests to medical tests in cooperation with King Salman Center in Saudi Arabia.
